Why do we (the F&B industry) keep the sales of food revenue and sales of beverage revenue separate?

The sales of food and the sales of beverage are kept separate for a verity of reasons:

  • Their demands are different and the customer tastes and preferences changes separately and hence making strategies of them together does not make sense so it is always better to keep them separate and marketing them separately.
  • The logistics at them for both of them are different.
  • The taxation is also different and hence the corresponding calculations are quite different.
  • There is a separate positioning criteria for beverages and a separate one for food which makes it sense to keep both of them different.
