The 95% CI is [8, 17] . Based on this interval, did the treatment group outperform the placebo, or vise versa? Should you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis of no difference between groups? Since this interval [8,17] contains only positive values we can conclude that the treatment group is more effective than the placebo group and it out performs the placebo group.

Since the null hypothesis in this case will be:

Thus based on this interval we reject our null hypothesis of no difference between the two groups because the confidence Interval does not contain the value zero.
