The CEO, Williams fires couple of his management employees because they go against his decision of not shutting down the company for 3-4 days. Barton is the CIO, who recommends the shut down. Why didn't Williams fire Barton?

CEO is chief executive officer and CIO is chief information officer. Both hold same roles and responsibilities in their concerned departments and have equal rights. Therefore the CEO cannot fire a CIO as the power vests in the hands of management . Therefore Williams did not fire Barton as he has the right to recommend anything and give ideas.
