Answer #1

The Cold War was between Soviet Union and the United States. The US was a capitalist nation and the USSR was a communist one. The war was caused by the rivalry between these two countries. The US wanted to encourage free trade with the whole world. But the USSR was a closed economy and they shut off from the entire world market. As both were super powers, there arose a certain kind of resentment and dislike between the two. This was happened after the collapse of the European power after the Second World War.. Both of them wanted to dominate the world.

Truman was the then US President, and he disliked Stalin the then USSR President.. There was a foreign policy by Truman, known as Truman Doctrine, which vowed to help countries under the threat from the USSR. But the main issue was the doubt about the threat of nuclear weapons. In 1945, US used atom bomb against Japan, after that USSR created its own atom bomb. They were extremely concerned about their own security and they were much terrific and tensed about the attack of the US.During the second World War, the US, supplied war materials to the allied nations, but later, US stopped their help to those war affected nations, this was another cause for the Cold War. During these final stages of World War II, the partnership between the Soviet Union and the other Allied nations began to fall apart

Another cause was the the ideological conflict that existed between the United States and Soviet Union. Throughout the war the USSR tried to spread its ideology of communism to the entire world, but the US was based on capitalism and democracy.

In conclusion, we can say that the root cause was this ideological difference between these two nations. The Truman government feared that the Soviet ideology will spread throughout the world and the American ideology would remain as it is. This was the root cause behind the cold war, Truman said, “I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. I believe that we must assist free peoples to work out their own destinies in their own way. I believe that our help should be primarily through economic and financial aid, which is essential to economic stability and orderly political processes.”  Thus entered into conflict with Soviet Union at last.
