US attacked Iraq in 2003 .There was a major reason behind this war. The war started due to imminent threat of Saddam Hussain( 5th President of Iraq), who was suspect of links with ISIS.. US Intelligence had information that Saddam Hussain was developing weapons of mass destruction and he thus presented a threat to his neighbour countries and to the world community.
The security council , comprising of 15 members warned him to comply with conduct of peace and to disarm or otherwise he would face serious consequences ,but Saddam didn' t care for this warning .
Finally this led to the George W Bush administration ,launching Operation Desert Storm to attack Iraq on march 20,2003 which lasted till december 18, 2011.
