What can we observe during the cake filtration of suspensions?
Cake filtration is the process of passing solid suspension (commonly known as slurry) through a porous media. It is done to seperate the solid particulates from the suspension. Solid particles are retained on the porous medium(also known as septum).
During filtration process initially solids that are trapped in the pores of medium forms the true filter medium. As the time proceeds thickness of cake( solid reatined on spetum) increases, this in turn decreases the rate of filtration which also increases the resistance across the cake.

The following data was obtained from a constant pressure cake filtration experiment: Time (s) 5 10 20 30 V(t) (lit) 0.040 0.055 0.080 0.095 The following additional information is given: A = 0.1 ft2, Cs = 0.015 kg/1, ju= 1.1 centipoise, AP = 10 N/m2. a) Determine RM b) Determine the specific cake resistance
What is the standard deviation of the X bar? Can we observe the σ in the formula? What do we use in place of the sample standard deviation? That is sd of N observations? (it should be in square root because it’s the sd!)
4. A suspension of yeast cells is to be filtered at a constant filtration rate of 50 L/min. The suspension has a solid content of 70 kg/m3 of suspension and the yeast cells have a bulk density of 800 kg/m3. Laboratory tests indicate that the specific cake resistance is 40 m/kg and the viscosity of the filtrate is 2.9x10-3 kg/m.s. The filter has an area of 0.1 m2 and the medium offers negligible resistance. How long can the filtration rate...
What types of changes can we observe following the globalization of the economy? Were these changes good or bad?
Describe an example of osmosis that we can observe in real life. Explain what is happening at the cellular level, including what is moving across the cell membranes and in which direction (in or out of the cells)?
Sometimes continuous variation of a trait exists in a population, but we can only observe it as present or absent. What name do we use to describe such characteristics? regressed meristic distributed threshold calibrated

At what frequency will we observe this...
2) During standardization of KMnO4 if you observe a brown precipitate, what does this indicate? Do you continue the titration in this situation or stop and repeat it? 3) Why do we perform blank analysis in KMnO standardization? 4) Why do we add HgCl, and why do we add it quickly? Write the related reaction.
what color would we observe for a translucent substance/solution in spectrometer?.
From Irvine, we observe that the North Star (Polaris) is located at an elevation of roughly 33 degrees. We then quickly fly north 1600 kilometers to Seattle, where we observe Polaris to be at an elevation of 48 degrees. Recognizing that there are 360 degrees in a circle and a circle’s circumference is equal to π × its diameter, what is the approximate size (i.e. radius) of the Earth? [π can be approximated as 3.]
