If a man with a hat is in an elevator that suddenly starts falling, will his hat rise up off his head? Explain. What about if the same man and hat are falling off a building?

As the elevator starts falling there is a pseudo force that acts on both the hat and the man and both will start a free fall downwards .since the buoyancy force on the hat is more than man the hat may get loose and leave the surface of his head but will head downwards with respect to rest frame .

Same will be the situation on falling off a building
