Genetic mapping is mapped by the linkage recombination and the number of progeny produced, that allow the researcher to know the estimate distance between genes.

Gene mapping can also be mapped by the RFLP process in which two or more molecular marker are taken into consideration for mapping distance between gene.

Physical map include breaking of the whole genome by sonification and sequence the small pieces of DNA and these fragment attach with contiguous DNA and help in making a physical map.

In physical map the heterochromatin regions are also present while in gene mapping we can not predict the heterochromatin regions.
