Suppose we add another SRC instruction xor ra, rb, rc that xors the contents of registers rb and rc and stores the result in register ra. Develop a concrete RTN and a control sequence for this instruction. Note that the SRC ALU does not have an XOR operation, so you will have to design it using the AND, OR and other operations.

Answer #1

In the above, concrete RTN and a control sequence for each instruction.

  • First three T0, T1 and T2 are instruction fetch process.
  • And T3, T4 and T5 are the execution of the each logical operation.

    1. [20 Pts] You are given the data-path below. Note that there are three registers. Two of these have a load control input, while the other loads a new value on every clock cycle. There are two tri-state drivers that connect the outputs of registers A and Bto a common bus. Finally, there is an ALU that can perform two operations: .Pass Y add X and Y X is always the output of register C, while Y is the value...

(10 points) Suppose you have a load-store computer with the following instruction mix Operation Frequency Number of clock cycles ALU ops Loads Stores Branches 40 % 20 % 18% 22 % 4 4 The ALU ops (arithmetic logic unit ops) typically use operands in CPU registers and hence they take fewer clock cycles to execute. However, if you want to add a memory operand to a CPU register, then you would have to explicitly load it into a CPU...

1.) a.) Using the simplified instruction set shown for part b, write code for the following. Suppose memory locations 1400 to 1449 contain 16-bit words. Each word represents 2 ASCII characters. Write code to read in and write out these 100 characters. Left-side character from location 1400 should be first, right-side character from location 1400 should be second, and remaining characters follow in numeric order. Assume you have access to 4 registers: R1, R2, R3, R4. Each register holds one...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
