Unemployment rate = unemployed / (employed + unemployed)

For 2011, this is calculated as: 13.92/(139.34 + 13.92) = 9.08%

We see that unemployment rate rose in 2010 but then it declined slightly. However the percentage was still high

Unemployment rate is very high in this economy which suggests that the economy must be suffering from recession and economic slump.
