In 2000 When Amazon launched itself the traditional retail market comprised of more than 70% traditional retailers which now comes to less than 30% as Amazon has grown to 53% by 2019 .

The sudden rise in market share has been largely due to lean manufacturing, economies of scale, massive funding, omni channel retailing, globalization and excellent product availability which retailers traditionally failed to imitate.

The customer mindset and trust has consistently increased and with impulse buying and purchase at just one click with low cost options the market has shifted from offline to online.
