When two plane mirrors are parallel, such as on opposite walls in a barber shop, multiple images arise because each image in one mirror serves as an object for the other mirror. An object is placed between parallel mirrors separated by 40 cm. The object is 5 cm in front of the left mirror and 35 cm in front of the right mirror.
(a) Find the distance from the left mirror to the first four
images in that mirror.

Let us denote left mirror as m1 and right mirror as m2.
The question can be solved by using the concept of multiple reflections in case of parallel mirrors in which image formed by one mirror acts as an object for other after the first image has been formed. The distances of first four images formed by m1 are 5, 75, 155 and 235 m respectively. And those by m2 are 35, 115, 195, 275 m respectively.
The first image is of the object placed infront of the mirror. For formation of second image, the 1st image on opposite side acts a object, hence the distance of second image is sum of distance between the 2 mirrors and the distance of 1st image from opposite mirror.

A person walks into a room that has, on opposite walls, two plane mirrors producing multiple images. Find the distances from the person to the first three images seen in the left-hand mirror, when the person is 7.00 ft from the mirror on the left wall and 14.0 ft from the mirror on the right wall. first image ft second image ft third image ft
A person walks into a room that has two flat mirrors on opposite walls. The mirrors produce multiple images of the person. Consider only the images formed in the mirror on the left. When the person is 2.70 m from the mirror on the left wall and 7.80 m from the mirror on the right wall, find the distance from the person to the first three images seen in the mirror on the left wall. first image second image third...
A person walks into a room that has two flat mirrors on opposite walls. The mirrors produce multiple images of the person. Consider only the images formed in the mirror on the left. When the person is 3.80 m from the mirror on the left wall and 6.50 m from the mirror on the right wall, find the distance from the person to the first three images seen in the mirror on the left wall. first image............ m second image...........
You stand between two flat mirrors on opposite walls and see multiple images of yourself in each mirror. If you are 2.0 m from the mirror on your left and 4.0 m from the mirror on your right, find the distance to the first three images in the mirror on your left, measured from where you are standing.
A person walks into a room that has two flat mirrors on opposite walls. The mirrors produce multiple images of the person. Consider only the images formed in the mirror on the left. When the person is 5.30 m from the mirror on the left wall and 6.30 m from the mirror on the right wall, find the distance from the person to the first three images seen in the mirror on the left wall. 10.60 m 41 x Your...
1. Image Formation by Mirrors: An object is placed at a distance of 100 cm in front of a convex mirror. A plane mirror is placed at a distance of 40 cm from the convex mirror on the same side as the object. Find the focal length of the convex mirror if the images formed by the two mirrors coincide.
PHYS 251 Recitation 04: Multiple&Curved Mirrors Section Date Names Equipment needed: two plane mirrors 1. The Mirror a. In the set of mirrors shown below (with a 45° angle between them), locate as many images of the object as you can. (For each image you locate, label it with the number of reflections involved in each one. (The sides of the mirrors facing the object are reflective.) lb. Now with the two mirrors you have, arrange them with an object...
Two plane mirrors, nearly parallel, are facing each otherd1 = 2.2m apart as in (Figure 1) . You stand d2 = 1.8maway from one of these mirrors and look into it. You will see multiple images of yourself. parta-how far away from you is the first image of yourself in the mirror in front of you? partb-How far away from you is the second image of yourself in the mirror in front of you? partc-How far away from you is...
A plane mirror and a concave mirror (f = 6.10 cm) are
facing each other and are separated by a distance of 29.0 cm. An
object is placed between the mirrors and is 14.5 cm from each
mirror. Consider the light from the object that reflects first from
the plane mirror and then from the concave mirror. Find the
location of the image that this light produces in the concave
mirror. Specify this distance relative to the concave
mirror.
