A concave mirror forms an image, on a wall 3.00 m from the mirror, of the filament of a headlight lamp 10.0 cm in front of the mirror.
(a) What are the focal length and the radius of curvature of the mirror ?

Answer #1
a) For all mirrors, we have the equation 1/f = 1/do + 1/di. In this case, do = 10e-2m = 0.1m, di = 3m. So 1/f = 1/0.1 + 1/3 = 10.33, f = 9.7cm. R = 2f =19.4cm.

b) Since hi/ho = di/do, hi = ho*di/do = 5e-3*3/0.1 = 0.15m.
