Answer #1

i) CPU utilization is only 10%, which means very few programmes are
there in the ready queue. Low CPU utilization is not an ideal scenario
so here the solution will be to (d) increase the degree of multiprogramming.

ii) CPU utilization is only 10% but disk utilization is 90%,
so maximum work is done by disk so we need (b) get a faster paging disk
to facilitate disk transfer.

iii) CPU utilization is 90% so degreee of multiprogramming is high and
disk utilization is low(10%), so the suitable solution will be
a) Get a faster CPU which can help increase the throughput without exhausting the system.

iv) Both CPU and and Disk are utilized maximally(90%), which will
exhaust the system, so here the problem is the CPU scheduler
has enough number of programmes, the degree of multiprogramming
is high, so solution will be (c)decrease the degree of multiprogramming
