You are allowed (and encouraged) to use outside resources in coustructing your model, but you must (a) cite your references in your write-up, and (b) make the model your own work Part 1: Select Topic, Construct Basic Model, and Find Solution Identify a modeling topie of your choosing. Your topic should be something for which a basic model can be constracted that can be solved using the methods we have discussed in this course. Avoid applications that we have discussed in class, such as Newton's Law of Cooling, basic single population modeling spring/mass/damping problens, etc. Due Friday, April 19: Basic Model Write-up Type up your modeling goal, the necessary background for your particular topic, any assumptions that you are making, and the derivation of your chosen model. Once you have clearly framed the problem, present the solution to your model in a manner that could be easily read and understood by your peers. Submit an electronic copy of your write-up in the corresponding Dropbox on D2L Part 2: Add a New Model Feature and Determine Impact on Solution Add some form of (ressonable) permutation to your model to capture additional behavior for your system Solve this adapted model and observe the resulta. Due Friday, April 26: Added Feature Write-up Given your basic model and solution, provide the background and reasoning to justify your added feature to the model. Having presented the adapted model, write up your solution to the new model. Comment on the differences seen in your solution, and explain whether or not you think the added feature improved the model Part 3: Write Final Report and Create Poster/Video Combine your work from Parts 1 and 2 to construct one coherent report regarding your topic, your initial model, your adapted model, the corresponding solutions, and your interpretation of the results. In order to share your work with your peers, create a poster or video presenting the highlights of your work Due Friday, May 3: Final Write-up and Poster/Video Turn in a hard copy of your full written report during class and an electronic copy on D2.. You will alsco need to upload your poster or video to D21. (details on uploading to come). If you choose to make a poster, your poster should be easy to follow, remaining aesthetically pleasing while conveying the main points frotn your work. A sample poster template will be provided on D2L. Video presentations should be between five and ten minutes long, conveying the project highlights in whatever way you deem best (within reason). Part 4: Learn From and Critique Your Peers' Work You and your peers have worked hard on developing your models, so take the opportunity to learn from one another! You will be able to view all of your peers' posters/videos on D2L (like an electronic poster session/presentation of sorts) Due Friday, May 10: Reviee Posters of 2 Peers and Refleet on Your Modeling Erperience You will be assigned two specific posters/videos to view and critique according to certain criteria. These peer critiques will be incorporated in the final grade for each project. Along with your peer reviews, you will submit a two to three paragraph reflection on the modeling process and your main project take-aways
