1.What subsections in the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 specify requirements for overpressure protection?
2.What subsection in ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 specifies requirements for relief scenarios and capacity?
ASME SECTION VIII, DIVISION 1: It consists of mandatory requirements, prohibitions and non- mandatory guidance for materials, design, fabrication, markings and reports, over-pressure protection and certification of pressure vessels.
Division is structured with subsections and parts consisting of letters followed by a number.
Hereby I am listing all the subsections and things which are considered in it. This will help you in all such questions.
1. SUBSECTION A- GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
PART UG- General requirements for all methods of construction and all materials.
2. SUBSECTION B- REQUIREMENTS PERTAINING TO METHODS OF FABRICATION OF PRESSURE VESSELS
3. SUBSECTION C- CLASSES OF MATERIAL- SPECIAL CONSTRUCTIONS
ASME specifically states in Section VIII, Division 1, paragraph UG-125 (a) “All pressure vessels within the scope of this division, irrespective of size or pressure, shall be provided with pressure relief devices in accordance with the requirements of UG-125 through UG-137.”
So, answer to both your part lies in subsection A of Division 1.
Hope it helps!
