3)Assume that green eyes in humans are dominant to blue eyes. Further assume that these are the only two colors and that human eye color follows Mendel’s rules. A true-breeding greeneyed male produces offspring with a true-breeding blue-eyed female. What color eyes will the offspring have?

Answer #1

Green colour is dominant over blue colour.

Suppose green colour is coded by gene G and blue colour is coded by g.

True breeding green eye will have GG genotype and true breeding blue eye will have gg genotype.

Croos between GG x gg will have Gg genotype offsprings and since G is dominant over g, offsprings will have green colour eyes.

For the purpose of this problem assume that in humans eye color is controlled by a single gene and that the allele for brown eyes is dominant to the blue-eye allele. Two brown-eyed parents planning a pregnancy already have a blue-eyed daughter. PLEASE NOTE: gender (being male or female) is a SECOND trait (like a second Punnett square), but no need for a Punnett square because the chance that an offspring will be male or female is always 1/2. genetics problem: 5. On a small island, 235 mating individuals are all homozygous for brown eyes. An epidemic wipes out all but 10 young women, 2 young men, and two elderly women (both >70 years old). A boatload of foreigners arrives; the foreign population consists of six heterozygous brown-eyed young women, four homozygous brown-eyed young men, and 10 blue-eyed young men. Assuming that eye color is controlled by a single locus with the brown allele being dominant (blatantly incorrect, but...

what is b and c? 1) In marsh lizards rough scale (st) is completely dominant to smooth scale (s). Eye colour is determined by an incompletely dominant sex-linked allele and can be blue (b+), or yellow (b) with the heterozygote giving green eyes. A further gene (t) controls tail formation giving rise to a bent tail in homozygotes, t allele is dominant with respect to straight tail formation but is a recessive lethal. Parental genotypes of following phenotypes: A smooth,...
