Congratulations, you have just discovered an actual Sasquatch. Being a curious nephrologist, you want to examine its renal physiology. You discover that the big fellow handles the sugar inulin just like humans. Sasquatch, being a nice chap, gives you a blood and urine sample. From that you find the following. Plasma levels (constant over 24 hr): 6 g/dL of inulin, 2 g/dL of glucose; 24 hr urine sample: volume of 2L, containing 144 g inulin and 52 g glucose.

Answer #1

Uvol = 20/24*60 = 0.014 dl/min

Uinulin = 144/ 20 =7.2 g/dl

GFR=( Uvol * Uinulin )/ Pinulin

= 7.2* 0.014 /6 =0.0168 dl/min =1.68 ml/min
