Answer #1

Ans 1. the molecule is being detected by measuring the absorbance at 590 is starch because the absorbance is decreasing after the incubation of the same with the extract.

Ans 2. The extract contains the enzyme amylase which will cleave the starch. As the volume of the extract increases, the amount of enzyme also will increase that will eventually degrade more starch. Hence there will be a drop in the absorbance at 590 nm

Ans 3. Certainly the absorbance at 590nm of the the 'tube 1' will decrease as the extract (enzyme) is added to it. The activity of the enzymes will be depending on the concentration and time.

Ans 4. There will not be any significant change in the absorbance of 'tube 0' even after 10 minutes as it doesn't contain the extract (enzyme).

please help me with this experiment??? Enzymes Experiment 1: Enzymes in Food Amylase is used by humans to facilitate digestion. Specifically, it is an enzyme that breaks down starch molecules into sugar molecules. This is why people sometimes observe a sweet taste after sucking on a starch-containing food for an extended period of time. Amylase is found naturally in human saliva and the pancreas. However, it is also present in some of the common plant foods consumed by humans. This...
