Answer #1

Europe was in the clutches of religion and monarchs which made lives for ordinary people difficult. Europe was also increasingly became populated during the age of exploration and the prospect of another Black Death was very much imminent. The promise that life would be very interesting and people could get away from the iron hands of religion and the monarchy made more people sail across the seas with the expectation of settling down on their own. Christianity was even dominating the monarchs and it supported the wealthy and the powerful but despised the ordinary. Monarchs in turn supported the clergy in order to get forgiveness for their sins. This means, the new land came to the rescue of millions of people from various countries such as England, France, Spain and Portugal. Once they got settled down, the early colonists made sure that religion is kept away from politics thus functioning only when needed by people.
