a) We want to test the claim that the the proportion of men entering at small liberal college in the fall of 2018 is increased from 46%.

The hypothesis testing problem is:

Ho : p 0.46 Vs Hi: p> 0.46

b) By using the schematic:

We have a one population.

The data is categorical (i.e male or female).

Therefore we can used one sample z test for the significance of population proportion.
