Jack has had trouble sleeping, and over the past several days, their mother has had to repeatedly tell both boys to stop scratching their buttocks. The physician asks about the boy's behavior and sleeping arrangements. The mother informs him that both boys complain of itching more in the morning. The two boys share a bedroom, with Jack frequently crawling into bed with Ben at night. The physician uses cellophane tape to obtain a sample from the perinatal area of both boys, presses each piece of tape to a separate microscope slide, and sends it to the lab for analysis. In both samples, the microbiologist in the lab observes elongated, oval or football shaped eggs, flattened on one side 3 4. Roman has just returned to campus from a 2-week backpacking trip through Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend National Park. He wakes up with chills, a severe headache, and nausea. Several of his college classmates have had the flu, and with everyone returning from summer break, he thinks he's probably caught something at the mixer a few nights ago.
