ANSWER

1.

Process time          = Total time – Move time – Inspection time – Rework time

Process time = 60 minutes – 18 minutes – 13 minutes – 15 minutes = 14 minutes

MCE = Process time /(Process time + Move time + Inspection time + Rework time)

MCE = 14/(14+18+13+15) = 0.233

2.

Theoretical cycle time = Process time / Number of units in an hour = 14 minutes/100 units = 0.14 minute

Actual cycle time = Total time/Number of units = 60 minutes/100 units = 0.60 minutes

MCE = Theoretical cycle time/Actual cycle time = 0.14/0.60 = 0.233

3.    

New waste = (1-0.30)(18 minutes + 13 minutes + 15 minutes) = 32.2 minutes

       

New MCE = 14/(14 + 32.2) = 0.30

New cycle time = (14+32.2)/100 = 0.462 minutes
