The transverse loading is the load which acts along the perpendicular direction to the cross section of the plate. In case of aircrafts, the two wings are clearly subjected to such loading. This transverse loading on the wings is nothing but the lift force applied by the flowing air velocity. A typical approximation of the aircraft wing under transverse loading due to the air lift force is shown below.
