1.In distance vector algorithm, give me two conditions
that may cause the router to re-compute
the distance vector estimates?
2. What is called “hot potato routing”?
1. The router has to recalculate the distance vector in the
below situations:
a. When the information about the distance vector it has received from the neighbor is different than before. It has to recalculate the distance vector in this situation.
b. When it finds the link to its neighbor has gone
down/unresponsive. In this situation, it has to recalculate.
Hot Potato Routing is one of the types of routing mechanism in which the nodes of a network does not have any capacity or a buffer to store the packets before they reach its final predetermined destination. In this routing mechanism, each packet routed constantly until it reaches a final destination. It allows many packets to reach its final destination without dropping anywhere else.

Distance vector routing
In the illustrated network, routes are determined using the
distance vector algorithm . The marked router
v has been newly added, it only knows the direct
costs to its neighbor routers u ,
y and z .
(a) Specify the distance vectors in all routers
except v before adding v . We
assume that the distance vector algorithm for all routers existing
at this time is already terminated.
(b) Give the initial distance vector in the
router...
Q1 Error detection/correction Can these schemes correct bit errors: Internet checksums, two-dimendional parity, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) A. Yes, No, No B. No, Yes, Yes c. No, Yes, No D. No, No, Yes E. Ho, hum, ha Q2 CRC vs Internet checksums Which of these is not true? A. CRC's are commonly used at the link layer B. CRC's can detect any bit error of up to r bits with an r-bit EDC. c. CRC's are more resilient to bursty...
