1. The router has to recalculate the distance vector in the below situations:

a. When the information about the distance vector it has received from the neighbor is different than before. It has to recalculate the distance vector in this situation.


b. When it finds the link to its neighbor has gone down/unresponsive. In this situation, it has to recalculate.

Hot Potato Routing is one of the types of routing mechanism in which the nodes of a network does not have any capacity or a buffer to store the packets before they reach its final predetermined destination. In this routing mechanism, each packet routed constantly until it reaches a final destination. It allows many packets to reach its final destination without dropping anywhere else.
