Polish healthcare sector has established broadly since economic renovation, though convergence to European standards have not been attained yet. There have been frequent efforts at improving healthcare system in Poland that have been somewhat successful. In result main health pointers among Polish populations, as life probability or infant mortality, have improved considerably. However health outcomes have not met European standards yet, the underlying problem being the insufficient healthcare funding, especially in the public sector.
This profile of the Polish cultural community is just one of the many projects undertaken by the Queensland Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC). The Queensland PICAC Project aims to simplify the development of partnerships between ethnic community groups and residential aged care service providers to implement “best practice” strategies of care for older people from diverse backgrounds. The project is about ensuring the needs of older people from a Polish cultural background are met. Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing, the project in Queensland is managed by Diverse care under the indication of the Ethnic Communities Council of Qld. Population trends within Australia are increasingly characterised by a diversity of people, languages and culture. Coupled with this trend is an ageing population, also with a rich diversity of languages and cultures.
A feedback loop between healthcare system development and economic union could accelerate quality of life in Poland. Increase in health levels among the Polish populations in result of the forecasted changes may result in higher portion of population attaining the labour market (especially among the elderly), lower costs of unnecessary diseases and growth in healthy life years lived. The outcomes of such changes may result in continuation of robust economic growth, accompanied by an increase in quality of Polish citizens. In consequence additional health gains may be realized for the benefit of Polish society
