1. Stages of grief : According to Elisabeth Kubler, there are 5 stages of grief . They are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance..In the stages of grief, the nurse must facilitate the grieving process by assessing the grief, the nurse must assist the patient with issues and concerns related to grief, the nurse must support the survivors . The nurse must support the individual to cope and live with a loss.

2. Post mortem care is preparing the death patient for the visit of their family members. Ensure proper identification of the patient before shifting to the morgue or funeral services. Nurses responsibilities are clean the patient body by sponging , remove all the lines such as drain tubes, IV lines,, NG tube, ventilator tubings etc. Give eye care , clean nostrils, give all nursing care whatever applicable . Apply cotton in all the opening such as nostrils , ear. If there is any ooze, clean it and put clean dressing. Put on patient gown and cover the body with death cover...

3. Long term care: Assess the respiratory need of the patient. Plan to meet nutritional needs , elimination needs, psychological needs etc. Prepare the family members for the long-term problems and treatment.. Various settings such as patient lost his or her ability to meet the activities of daily living .
