The sides are cooled by maintaining contact with heat sinks at To, with a thermal contact resistance of R"tc (see p. 117-118 of the textbook [7th Ed., section 3.1.4] about contact resistance). The bar has a thermal conductivity k, and its width (horizontal direction) is W-2L. The bar material has uniform heat generation àdue to electric current in the bar.
