Some of the campers have become ill with gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, including diarrhea, abdominal cramps, muscle pain, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. Unfortunately, those with signs and symptoms were sent home from the camp and stool samples were not obtained (unfortunately for you, the epidemiologist, as this would've helped in identifying the agent underlying disease). Instead, you are left with descriptive epidemiology to identify the source you call ill campers at their homes obtain the necessary information and visit the camp to conduct face-to-face interviews with healthy camp attendees (1 control for per case). At this point, you conduct your interviews and fill out your outbreak investigation handout (line listing). Again, you are only able to get a hold of 10 ill campers and interview 1 control per case at the camp.
