FORMATION OF AFFORDABLE CARE ACT(A C A)

The Affordable Care Act,also known as 'Obama care' was signed into law by President Barack Obama in March 2010.It was a federal policy enacted by the 111th United States Congress.It was mandatory to have the health insurance by every citizen by March 31, 2014 or have to pay penalty.This covered pre-existing conditions,pregnancy,children on parent's plan and employees of small business.The main purpose of this law was to reduce the government's expenditure on health care and the people's health insurance coverage cost.

The act was one of the prominent health care reform in America.Many people disagreed with the act when it was introduced as it forced everyone to get insured.Protests were carried out by politicians and the people who raised concerns about the harm on private insurance companies and federalism. Twenty six states and The National Federation of Independent Business challenged the mandatory rule in the court. All obstacles were cleared in June 2012, when Supreme court positively responded about the Act. Even though the law was signed in 2010,it came into effect in January 2014.
