The sun-wheel C which is keyed to shaft P has 44 teeth and the pinion E keyed to shaft R has 25. There are floating compound planet wheels F, G. The power input to shaft R is 8 kW at 1440 rev/min. Fia: 2 If wheel A is fixed and the power output is shared equally between shafts P and Q. determine: (a) the speeds of shafts P and Q and their directions of rotation relative to that of shaft R; (b) the torque required to hold wheel A fixed, if friction losses are neglected (Ans.: +3000 rew/min, +5250 rewmin; 2325 N m)
