A recent example of a corporation accused of false advertising is Activia yoghurt from Dannon. This product was advertised as being scientifically and clinically proved to be able to boost the immune system and regulate digestion. WIth these exclusive features advertised, the product was sold on a price higher than the prices of similar products. The product was advertised by actress Jamie Lee Curtis who claimed the yoghurt to contain certain bacterial ingredients which help in boosting immunity and regulating the digestive system.

These claims were proven wrong in the case made against the product on the company. It was when a consumer filed a lawsuit against the company for false advertising. Donnon had to pay $45,000 as a fine for the false advertising and also remove the labels of "scientifically and clinically proven" from the product. The company agreed to pay the fine and close the case to avoid any further costs and distractions made by the case and denied any falsifications in their claims.

I will not agree with the claims of the company which signifies that the use of thus yoghurt daily will avoid people from catching flu and cold and helps in intestinal problems. Though yoghurt by itself is a good product to intake every day and to some point helps in issues like these. But having Activia yoghurt to solve such issues on medical grounds can be a false claim. Moreover pricing the product on a 30% higher price than the market prices is an unlawful act too.
