Answer #1

Sol :-

Given equations are :

H2 + 2 N2 + 5 O2 ----------> 2 HNO3 + 2 NO2 , ΔH1 = -202 KJ ................(1)

N2H4 ------------> 2 NH + H2 ,  ΔH2 = + 567 KJ .......................................(2)

2 N2O5 -----------> 2 N2 + 5 O2 , ΔH3 = + 22.6 KJ ...................................(3)

Aim equation is :

N2H4 + 2 N2O5 ----------------> 2 HNO3 + 2 NO2 + 2 NH , ΔH = ? ................................(4)

Aim equation can be obtain by adding equations (1), (2) and (3). Because enthalpy is an additive property of the system, therefore Change in enthalpy of a reaction (ΔH) of the aim equation will by the sum of ΔH1, ΔH2 and ΔH3.

So,

ΔH = ΔH1 + ΔH2 + ΔH3

ΔH = - 202 KJ + 567 KJ + 22.6 KJ

ΔH = + 387.6 KJ

Hence, Change in enthalpy of the reaction is = + 387.6 KJ
