The philosophy of nursing is a statement which states the beliefs, values and ethics of a nurse relating to the treatment and care of the patients. It is   referred as one's attitude and personal approach towards the field of nursing and the motive for the education and practice in nursing.

The various types of nursing philosophy are :

  • Realism
  • Humanism
  • Idealism
  • Naturalism
  • Theistic realism
  • Philosophical theism
  • Existentialism
  • Romanticism

The philosophy is a part of personality. It is difficult to maintain the commitment and drive towards the nursing profession without a proper philosophy.
