Answer #1

One of the most important things that the L2 teachers of English need to know is that there are different accents in English and it differs from country to country where English is the mother tongue. For example, the accent is not same in US and England or England and South Africa or South Africa and Australia. Another thing to be noted is there are words that differ in their meaning in country to country which means not all the words in one country would mean the same in another country, although there would be similarities for most part. Third things to know is the spelling difference in American and British English. This means both the American and British accents are considered as the neutral accent thus one could use either. It doesn’t matter which accent one follows as long as one makes sense and as long as one is able to communicate effectively to others.
