Role of antioxidant in nutrition.

             * Antioxidants are compounds which inhibit the formation of free radicals by inhibiting

               oxidation.

             * Free radicals formed as a result of oxidation have unpaired electron which make the

               radicals highly reactive and cause cell damage so antioxidant provide protection to

               body cells by preventing this reactions.

            * Antioxidant used as preservative in foods to prevent microbial growth.

            * Use of antioxidant containing foods in diet lower cancer risk by neutralizing cell damage.

            * Use of antioxidants foods in diet reduce the risk of degenerative diseases.

            * Antioxidant foods reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
