As shown in figure in question , According to concept of Gibb's free Energy i.e the Reaction going in feasible direction should have lower value of Gibb's free Energy .

In the figure , It is specified that the Oxidation reaction is having lower Gibbs Free energy than that of reduction reaction, So , that the Me -> Me+ + e- is more feasible than that of Reduction reaction i.e Me+ + e- -> Me.

Reduction reaction require more energy than that of oxidation for to get spontinity.
