Answer #1

Answer

We know when ΔH is positive and ΔS is positive then reaction is spontaneous at high temperature, so for a correct option is second one that is “The forward reaction is spontaneous only at high temp.”

We know when ΔH is positive and ΔS negative is, then at any temperature a process is not spontaneous, but reverse reaction is spontaneous, so for b correct option is fourth one that is “The reverse reaction is spontaneous at all temp.”

When ΔH is negative and ΔS is negative then reaction is spontaneous at low temperature only, so for c correct option is third one that is “The forward reaction is spontaneous only at low temp.”

Question 5 The spontaneity of a reaction depends both on the enthalpy change, Delta H, and entropy change, Delta S. Reactions that release energy produce more stable products, and the universe tends toward disorder. Thus, an exothermic reaction with a positive entropy change will always be spontaneous. Mathematically, this relationship can be represented as where Delta G is the change in Gibbs free energy and T is the Kelvin temperature. If Delta G is negative, then the reaction is spontaneous....
