ANS) In the children of age 1.5 years to about 3 years,the shame and doubt is usually seen.The babies going through this step are concentrated on growing a larger awareness of self-discipline.
The parents can really foster autonomy in his or her toddler and prevent feelings of shame and doubt in this stage in many ways and they are;
* Give the babies more and more chances for being independent.Give them permission to have the food alone,give opportunities to wear their dresses alone,tell them to select the toys that they need and avoid their doubts by saying that they had selected the good one and try to give appreciation to their good activities.
* Encourage them at the time of their potty practice and don't scold them for mistakes.
* Provide them good open space for playing and don't always restrict them in touching or taking anything.
* Providing consolation and having trust in your babies capabilities is very significant for the growth of a awareness of autonomy and self-assurance.The mother and father who scold their babies for small matters can leads to shame and doubts in the babies.
