Answer: Polypharmacy is the use of multiple medications to treat a patient, but has had many negative outcomes generally used by elder patients. Taking multiple medications at a time may cause many side effects. Most of the times many drugs should not be consumed together to avoid the drug interaction, the lack of knowledge leads to increase in many problems in the patients as well as produces many other difficulties. Those drugs prescribed in combination can be taken altogether but some medication should be avoided. For example, calcium tablet should not be taken with the milk as it forms complex, but due to lack of knowledge, many people take this combination.
