Answer #1

Zn(OH)2 is more soluble in an acidic solution than in pure water.

Explanation:

Conjugate base of a weak acids like hydroxide, carbonate, acetate, phosphate etc increases its solubility in presence of acidic solutions.

Zn(OH)2(s)⇌Zn2+(aq)+2OH−(aq)

In presence of acid the insoluble hydroxide will form the bellow reaction of

H+(aq)+OH−(aq)→H2O(l)

Thus overall reaction will be

Zn(OH)2(s)+2H+(aq)⇌Zn2+(aq)+2H2O(l)

So according to Le-Chatelier’s principle more acid will favor more product so equillibrium will shift towards right side making Zn(OH)2 more soluble in acidic solution.
