As an educator, how can you support the child's intrinsic motivators of play?

Intrinsic motivation is defined as doing something out of self interest and ultimate end is enjoyment and inner happiness rather than a external reward .

In early childhood developing an intrinsic motivators of play is highly challenging. Most of the children study to please their parents , gain more marks or out of pressure to get through the exam. Nurse educator can support child's intrinsic motivators of play by following means:

- Theory of self determination: Self determination theory states an individual performing complex task gain more sense of competency. The child stands ahead in a crowd with the mastery skills and autonomy . Making child to attain self determination helps to develop intrinsic motivation.

- Intrinsic rewards : Child should understand intrinsic reward is greater and more valuable than a Extrinsic reward. Child activities like reading novels, epics, solving puzzles, zigzag play will increases child sense of motivation , happiness and joy.

- planning activity based on child interests : Intrinsic motivation develops only in a environment with out more rules and control.
