Answer #1

Al2(SO3)3(aq) + 6NaOH ---> 3Na2SO3(aq) + 2Al(OH)3(s)

1 mol Al2(SO3)3(aq) = 6 mol NaOH = 3 mol Na2SO3(aq) = 2 mol Al(OH)3(s)

a) No of mol of Al2(SO3)3 reacted = 5/150 = 0.033 mol

No of mol of NaOH taken = 5/40 = 0.125 mol

limiting reactant = NaOH

b) No of mol of NaOH FORMED = 0.125*2/6 = 0.042 mol

   MASS OF Al(OH)3 FORMED = 0.042*78 = 3.28 g

c) excess reagent = Al2(SO3)3

No of mol of excess Al2(SO3)3 = 0.033-(0.125/6) = 0.0122 mol

mass of excess Al2(SO3)3 = 0.0122*150 = 1.83 g
