Task 2: Context or problem solving using the skills learned Experimental test was conducted on a cantilever truss in mechanics laboratory and the following observations were made. A vertical load P is applied at free end of a cantilever truss (point C) as shown in figure 1. Length of AC and angle ABC are equal to Lacmm and angle o respectively. Members AC and BC are made up of materials plastic & steel respectively. Area and modulus of elasticity of plastic are Aplastic mm and Eplastie MPa respectively. Similarly, area and modulus of elasticity of steel are Astee mm and E stee! MPa respectively. Calculate the vertical displacement at free end by unit load method. Consider the limiting value of deflection as L1/300 and compare the deflection at C with the limiting value. Refer the attached data sheet for the values corresponding to your student number as shown i table 1.
