The two mentioned acids are drawn as above. Erucic Acid is a monounsaturated acid which means that it has only one double bond. However, Arachidonic acid is a polyunsaturated acid having four double bonds. Therefore in complete hydrogenation of 1 mole Erucic acid, 1 mole Hydrogen is needed (22.4 L at STP) whereas for 1 mole Arachidonic Acid, 4 moles of Hydrogen is needed (89.6 L at STP). In this way, the acids can be distinguished.

In transfer hydrogenation reaction, the Hydrogen atoms from 1,3-cyclohexadiene are transferred to the concerned acid. Meanwhile, 1,3-cyclohexadiene is converted to Benzene.

Thus, if there is 'n' alkene double bonds in the acid, then 'n' moles of 1,3-cyclohexadiene are needed and n moles of Benzene are produced.

For, Stearidonic Acid, it will produce 4 moles of Benzene.
