Stimulus act is introduced in 2009 to promote Electronic Health Records by hospitals in the United States. But in the initial stages, it did not make any impact as most of the doctors in the USA were not interested to change to EHR. The Stimulus act came with a huge $17 billion incentive to healthcare providers and hospitals to implement EHR technology systems.

According to the national ambulatory medical care survey of 5200 physicians, the EHR implemented hospitals were 48% and it is increased to 96% in 2019. in a survey of national electronic health records, 87% of physicians using an EHR or EMR system. Even though there are lots of complaints about the efficiency and accuracy of EHR, the EHR implemented hospitals has significantly increased in the USA.
