Write a detailed discussion of the three main tactics used by unions to win support for their demands?
The disparity between employers ' desires and workers ' demands culminated in the rise of unions. Workers can negotiate their wages through the union, as well as working conditions, job security and benefits. During the course of the talks, the unions rely on various strategies, including protesting, parading, boycott, and collective bargaining, to meet their demands.
Workers refuse to return to work until they meet their demands. The business comes to a halt and refuses to meet the demands of the union. The strike employees are not compensated, however, so the businesses are pursuing the holding tactic to see how long the workers will live without pay.
Unions can parade with banners that inform the public about some of the company's negative aspects, such as low wages or unsafe working conditions; also known as picketing. For example, the University of Hawaii faculty, dissatisfied with wages, went on strike for 13 days in April 2001. A lot of students started to worry about completing the semester before long.
The group becomes more confrontational once the negotiation process is started. Unfair practices may be questioned, meetings may be increased, and labor demands on the board to make a quick decision. The object is to force the board to approve the applications that have been made. The stress is gradually increased by taking the issues to the general public's attention and by enlisting a vote of sympathy.
Through distributing letters and holding meetings to promote cohesion, attempts are made to reinforce the members ' trust in the union before the negotiations begin. An increase in the number of grievances, letters to the union membership indicating their job market wage ranking or even a letter asking for negotiations to start early due to the number of' serious issues that need to be addressed are common tactics.
