13 Question (3 points) The images represent three samples of nitrogen dioxide, which is the pollutant responsible for the brown color of the atmospheric pollution. At high temperatures, nitrogen dioxide decomposes to nitrogen monoxide and oxygen gas. Use the particulate model below to answer the following questions.

Answer #1

Since plot of 1/[NO2] versus time is linear thus reaction follow second order kinetics and rate become :

Rate = K[NO2]2

When [NO2] become 4 times then rate become 16 times.

    The images represent three samples of nitrogen dioxide, which is the pollutant responsible for the brown color of the atmospheric pollution. At high temperatures, nitrogen dioxide decomposes to nitrogen monoxide and oxygen gas. Use the particulate model below to answer the following questions. A plot of 1NO21NO2 versus time is linear. Using this information, identify the factor by which the rate will increase in model (c) if the number of molecules is increased by a factor of 2. (b) (c)...

    Review Problem 5.042 A pollutant in smog is nitrogen dioxide, NO2. The gas has a reddish brown color and is responsible for the red-brown color associated with this type of air pollution. Nitrogen dioxide is also a contributor to acid rain because when rain passes through air contaminated with NO2, it dissolves and undergoes the following reaction: 3NO2(g) + H20 - NO(g) + 2H+ (aq) + 2NO3- (aq). In this reaction, which element is reduced and which is oxidized? H...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
