Standard of care means actions to perform by a nurse performed by reasonable and prudent nurse in similar situation.

Nursing practice standards are descriptive statements that effect the nature of current nursing practice, current knowledge and current nursing care.

There are three standards

  • Standard - 1 that is assessment in which RN collects comprehensive date of the health care consumer's health or situation.
  • Standard - 2 that is diagnosis in which RN analyze the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issue.
  • Standard - 3 that is outcome identification in which RN identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or situation.
